Pedal from Mumbai’s vibrant coast to the timeless ruins of Hampi on an unforgettable ride through India’s Western Ghats. Experience beaches, jungles, hill climbs, and ancient temples on this epic cycling adventure.

Grade 3 Cycle TourCycling

On our first day of cycling, we leave Dapoli’s cool hill air and descend through paddy fields and mango orchards to the beautiful Konkan coast. The route follows quiet backroads past fishing villages, coconut groves, and serene beaches, visiting local highlights such as the ancient temples of Guhagar and the seaside shrine at Ganpatipule. Further on, we wind south along the coastline with ferry crossings, panoramic sea views, and glimpses of daily village life. As we turn inland from Goa, the scenery changes dramatically — lush forests give way to the jungle-clad hills of the Western Ghats. We climb towards Dandeli and Hubli, cycling through wildlife-rich forests and rural Karnataka farmland. Our final ride leads us into Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where ancient temples and stone-carved palaces rise from surreal boulder-strewn landscapes. This unforgettable journey captures the contrasts of India — from tropical shores to timeless ruins – at its very best and most vibrant.

Further helpful information

This moderately challenging trip is ideal for regular cyclists. The terrain includes coastal roads and hill climbs through the Western Ghats, with some long but rewarding days in the saddle.

The climate along the Konkan coast is tropical, with warm, humid days and refreshing sea breezes. Inland, the Western Ghats offer slightly cooler temperatures, especially at higher elevations. The best time to ride is from October to March, after the monsoon, when conditions are dry and visibility is excellent.
