Perfect for those short on time for a full LeJog trip or who want to split it in two. Or why not enjoy a wonderful Celtic challenge in its own right?!

Cycling – 426 miles, 21,317 feet ascent

During our Scotland End to End Cycle Tour (Le Jock) from Lockerbie to John O’Groats you will experience the best of Scotland’s changing landscapes, and hopefully with a predominant sou’west tailwind all the way! The hills start gradually as we climb up and over the scenic southern uplands, and once beyond Glasgow the scenery just keeps improving. The Highlands in miniature through the Trossachs. Your first sight of the iconic mountain Buchaille Etive Mor as you summit Rannoch Moor. The Great Glen, the Caledonian canal and Loch Ness. And the white sands which greet you in Bettyhill when you reach the north coast…This tour is one of our new modular tours involving doing just one ‘stage’ of an existing tour, in this case stage 2 of our 14 day Lands End to John O’Groats route. You will meet the other cyclists doing the full LeJog in Lockerbie.

Accommodation

Your accommodation, on a twin-share bed and breakfast basis, will be in a mix of family-run hotels and good quality bed and breakfasts. We always aim to accommodate the group in the same location each night, though on rare occasions this may not be possible due to availability.

From 2026, we plan to be the first UK cycle tour operator to offer comfortable hotels throughout this route. We recognise how important a good night’s sleep, secure bike storage, and post-ride comfort are—especially after a long day in the saddle. Where possible during the summer months, we’ll also prioritise rooms with air conditioning and additional amenities to help you unwind and recover in comfort.

Single accommodation is available for a supplement of £350.

Meals

The hotels will provide breakfast whilst the support team will provide a pack-up lunch, this will depend on what is available on the day and could include a mix of fresh sandwiches, pasties or easy grab and bites sourced from local bakeries. If weather doesn’t permit outdoors we will get into cafes for quick lunch.

You will need to purchase your own evening meals, which are usually eaten communally although of course you are free to opt out if you wish.

We will carry emergency energy gels and bars in the support van but you are advised to bring along your own preferred sports nutrition to fuel your ride. There will be water refills, fruits bars etc provided to keep you hydrated.

In the Tour Plan, (B, L, D) refers to meals included in the trip cost i.e. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Bike Transfers

We will happily transport your bike to Lockerbie from Sheffield and back again from Inverness to Sheffield at no extra charge. However, because this is a stage of a longer tour, the bike drop-off would need to happen on or before 3rd September and it would be in the van waiting for you in Lockerbie. It would be ready to collect two days after the tour ends.

If that isn’t convenient or you don’t feel like you can be without your bike for that long before the tour starts (!) then you could either book your bike onto the train to and from Lockerbioe and Inverness, and we will transport it from the station to and from hotels. Or else we might be able to pick it up en route if you live near our LeJog route up through England.</p>

Please get in touch with us to discuss arrangements, and to explore what might be possible. Any significant diversions from our existing routes would incur an additional fee.

While we will take all reasonable care while handling your bikes, using padded covers and making sure they are securely stored, we are not liable for any loss or damage during transportation and storage. We recommend you have appropriate insurance.

1
Arrival Day - Meet at the hotel in Lockerbie
We will meet you at the hotel in Lockerbie, which is a very short walk from the train station. Assistance will be available should you need some help carrying luggage.
2
Lockerbie to Glasgow
71 miles (114km) - 2,550 feet ascent
Even though we cross the Southern Uplands today at Beattock Summit, the gradients are gradual and it is a day of far less climbing than many on this tour. The rounded hills and wind farms keep us company along the way, as we ride parallel with (above, and with better views) the M74 motorway. Cycle paths take us into Glasgow city centre where there will be the chance to enjoy the lively bars and restaurants of Scotland's friendly second (but largest) city. (B, L)
3
Glasgow to Tyndrum
77 miles (110km) - 4,600 feet ascent
For 2026 and 2027 we have modified our route to avoid the busy traffic along Loch Lomondside. Instead, we head north out of Glasgow to Drymen, through the Trossachs (a bit like the Highlands in miniature), over Duke's Pass and west towards Crianlarich and Tyndrum. For quite a lot of today you will have the option of gravel cycle paths instead of roads if you find the latter too busy. (B, L)
4
Tyndrum to Fort Augustus
80 miles (129km) - 3,025 feet ascent
Today the landscape and riding is simply epic, as we ride into and through some of the most spectacular Highland landscapes. The short climb over to Bridge of Orchy warms us up for the climb up to Rannoch Moor, where the spectacular mountain Buchaille Etive Mor comes into view, and the remote moorland stretches away for many miles to our right. We continue down through the remarkable Glencoe valley, along Loch Linnhe to Fort William and up the Great Glen to Fort Augustus. (B, L)
5
Fort Augustus to Tain
71 miles (114km) - 4,055 feet ascent
We head to Inverness along the quiet south shore of Loch Ness. Loch Ness is not only famous for its 'monster', but contains more water than all English and Welsh lakes put together! Inverness feels like another real marker point, as we cross the Kessock Bridge over the Moray Firth and up to Tain on the Black Isle. Not far to go now... (B, L)
6
Tain to Tongue
63 miles (101km) - 2,946 feet ascent
From Tongue we head diagonally north west to Lairg, alongside Loch Shin and some beautiful waterfalls, and ascend to the finest pub in the British Isles, the incomparable Crask Inn. From the Crask it’s downhill all the way to Tongue, between the furthest north Munros in Scotland (Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck). As we approach Tongue, the striking white sands of the north coast and the sea come into view. (B, L)
7
Tongue to John O'Groats
64 miles (103km) - 4,141 feet ascent
The last cycling day! At the start there are a couple of steep hills between Bettyhill and Strathy which will test our weary legs for the final time and nearby Thurso marks the last town of any size. The castle at Mey is the final landmark to look out for and the final few miles to John o’Groats are relatively flat. We should finish in front of the famous signpost at around 2pm. After a champagne celebration a coach will take us back to Inverness in time for a shower and a celebratory meal later in the evening. (B, L)
8
Departure Day
Final goodbyes as we help with transport to Inverness Airport or Inverness Railway Station as well as assisting with bikes which are being couriered home. (B)
